Ron Law began his career in plumbing by completing an apprenticeship with Glow-Worm in the early 1960’s. Glow-Worm was one of the first boiler manufacturers in Britain and is still a leading world-wide brand today. After completing his apprenticeship, he gained vast knowledge of different types of boiler systems and became an expert in boiler installation, servicing and repair both in and out of warranty for Glow-Worm. Despite having an extremely enjoyable career with Glow-Worm, Ron decided he would like to own and run his own company and in 1972 he and his wife Pam setup Ron Law Central Heating Services with an office and showroom on the corner of Marsh Lane in Bootle.
The company relocated to larger premises on Stanley Road, Bootle in 1979 by which time Ron had gained an excellent reputation within the gas service industry. Corgi (Council for Registered Gas Installers) was formed in April 1991 and it became a legal requirement for companies working with gas to be Corgi registered. This was a major change to the industry and Ron Law was amongst the first companies to embrace this and was issued Corgi Number 9019 on 10th April 1991. Corgi became the Gas Safe Register on 1 April 2009 and all existing Corgi memberships were transferred, keeping their membership number. We are extremely proud of our very low registration number of 9019 which is another indication of how long we have been trading. The company relocated to Southport in 1985. In 1991, we became the official Authorised Service Agents for the MTS Group, which enabled us to carry out warranty work for Ariston, Styx and Chaffoteaux boilers throughout the Merseyside area, and it was around this time also that we started carrying out emergency repairs for Domestic & General Insurance Plc.
Ron and Pam’s daughter, Tracey, joined the company in 1994 and her husband, Anthony joined the company in 1995. In 2006, Ron and Pam decided it was time to start taking things a little easier, so the company became Ron Law Central Heating Services Ltd, and relocated to larger premises for the 4th time. Anthony and Tracey were made Directors and Andrea (Ron & Pam’s other daughter) also joined us to assist Anna on the help desk who joined the company in 2003. Besides Anthony, our other most established engineers are Andrew and Wayne who joined the company in 2004 and 2005 respectively. We are extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated and loyal workforce – most of our employees have been with us now for over 6 years. We bought a brand new fleet of vans in 2008 and rebranded the company logo.
We became 1st tier engineers for Domestic & General in 2006, meaning we were responsible for providing a rapid response to gas appliance breakdowns for the majority of their customers throughout the Liverpool Area. We have been consistently rated as a 5 Star Service Provider, which is the highest standard possible, and we are extremely proud to have been awarded the TEQ (Technical Excellence and Quality Award) in 2009 and 2010. These awards were based on the feedback that Domestic & General receive from their customers after we have repaired their boiler and it is compared against the feedback that they receive about all other service centres across the country. Winning this award for the last 2 years is testament to our highly skilled engineers that have made us one of the best heating repair companies in the UK.
In 2012, we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary. That’s 40 year’s experience and knowledge of boiler installation, servicing and repair in Liverpool and Southport. We are experienced boiler engineers with vast knowledge of traditional and modern boilers & heating systems in homes throughout Merseyside. We have a team of dedicated advisers in our office to give impartial advice on boilers, controls, renewable technologies and various breakdown covers that are available. On many occasions they can even rectify simple faults over the phone, eliminating the need for an engineer to call.
Any components that we fit are guaranteed for 12 months*. If the component fails within this time, we will replace it completely free of charge.
